Kendall Shifflett of St. Helena, other Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine students, plan health fair to benefit community

2017 Aug 18

Kendall Shifflett of St. Helena, along with several other members of Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine's MD Class of 2020, has helped plan the sixth annual Steamtown Health Fair in partnership with Scranton Primary Health Care Center. The fair is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 23 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the school's Medical Sciences Building, 525 Pine St., Scranton.

Student organizers say the health fair will not only be informative, it will be fun. In addition to the health screenings and activities, including a basket raffle, organizations from throughout the community will be onsite to promote well-being and encourage healthy behaviors. Attendees may receive free screenings for blood pressure, vision and mental health, as well as information on a variety of health-related topics, from diabetes management to mammography education. Geisinger MyCode counselors will also be available for discussions about genetic screenings and the MyCode program.
