Geisinger Commonwealth grad, Sara Wing of Havertown, receives community service award

Sara Wing of Havertown, a member of Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine's (Geisinger Commonwealth) MD Class of 2017, received the John R. and Maureen J. Pesavento Community Service Award at a ceremony on May 6. The award recognizes the medical student who has devoted the most time to community service during their four years of medical school.

All Geisinger Commonwealth students are required to perform 100 hours of community service during their medical education. Dr. Wing logged more than 246 hours of service hours, working on projects with the college's Pediatric Outreach Group and providing pediatric care and care for premature infants.

Dr. Wing will complete her residency in otolaryngology at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.
