Geisinger Commonwealth grad, Mary Elise Lynch of Philadelphia,receives award for women's health

Mary Elise Lynch of Philadelphia, a member of Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine's (Geisinger Commonwealth) MD Class of 2017, received the Lackawanna County Medical Society Alliance (LCMSA) "Excellence in Women's Health" award at a ceremony on May 6. Members of LCMSA donated funds to Geisinger Commonwealth to award a prize to the fourth-year medical student who contributed the most to the field of women's health.

Dr. Lynch has been a passionate volunteer and advocate for women's health, completing volunteer experiences in Guatemala and in Kenya, where she used a Fulbright award to study HIV rapid testing. She will complete her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Boston University Medical Center.
