Geetika Gupta of Newtown elected medical student representative to the Lackawanna County Medical Society

Geetika Gupta, of Newtown, was elected medical student representative to the Lackawanna County Medical Society (LCMS). Ms. Gupta, a member of The Commonwealth Medical College's (TCMC) Class of 2019, is serving on the board of LCMS for a one-year term.

As medical student representative, Ms. Gupta joins representatives of Pennsylvania's eight other medical colleges as the student voice at the Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED). The Medical Student Section at both the county and state levels is a resource for information and education and provides direct access to the policymaking bodies of PAMED and the American Medical Association.

In addition, as medical student representative, Ms. Gupta plans and leads philanthropic efforts at the college, such as the holiday Angels' Attic Clothing Drive project, which collected clothing items on behalf of United Neighborhood Centers of Northeastern Pennsylvania (UNC). She is also planning TCMC's first "specialty speed dating" event with LCMS. The "speed dating" event will allow all medical students at the college to participate in five-minute rounds with physicians from a variety of medical specialties to learn more about each one.
